A Valentine’s Day creation for a gift shop that a class mate opened up in downtown Anchorage. The seals are nose kissing while making a heart shape. The insides of animals are often depicted by coastal artists and is called the x-ray style. On this tile, the stomach is in orange, ribs in purple, and the heart in red.
On the backside of the tile image above, the date constantly changes. Pretty much everything I make sells in the same year that I make it. The main ingredient in my tile clay is the Bootlegger Cove Clay, and it is the clay formation underlying all of Anchorage at varying thicknesses and depths.
The “Silver Hand Artist” stamp on the backside means I’m registered with the state of Alaska as a native Alaskan artist.
