Fur Rondy

Fur Rondy 2012
Rondy Queen (daughter of old friend)

Fur Rondy native arts and crafts market in Dimond Mall, Anchorage Alaska 2012. Ran into old friend from the 1970’s and her daughter, who is this years Rondy Queen! Small world. I will update this post with her name as soon as I talk to her mother. Meant to post this in March. And I had good sales too. Fur Rondezvous is a ten day event in Anchorage at the end of February and beginning of March where people can get out and do stuff. The 1000 mile Iditarod sled dog race starts at this time downtown. My favorite event is the running of the reindeer, which is sort of like running of the bulls, but no one gets gored.

  1. Hi Ed. I may have met you several years ago at an art show. Have you done any shows in Colorado, New Mexico, Kansas, Wyoming or that area over the past 4-5 years? All I remember is gorgeous tiles handmade by a Native guy (who looks a lot like you, as I recall) from Alaska who dug his own clay. And that you (he) made much better sales at the show than I did! My husband & I are potters. We’ve just moved from CO to Oregon. I was looking up Raven images on the web, and ran across your blog. Beautiful work!

I’m fascinated by your colligraph process. I love that you use it to make limited edition clay prints. Would you mind if I picked your brain a bit on the details? Thanks!

    1. Hello! Finally getting around to replying to your post. I did post a couple of collagraph related items since your long ago post. I haven’t done an arts and crafts show in any of the places that you mentioned, so must be someone else…wait, I did the Taste of Colorado in 2011, but I didn’t do too well in that one.

      1. Thanks, Ed. Someday I hope to try out a process similar to yours. Right now just working my tail off with wholesale orders, but sooner or later I need to get back to the real art of pottery. Maybe after my daughter’s wedding this summer…
